About the Artist
Rachael Uyeno was born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Oahu, and has recently relocated to Seattle. Her twin passions for visual art and acting lead her on a winding path through academia, where she was either a theatre major moonlighting as an art student, or an animation student running back and forth between the computer lab and the theatre. Either way, she is a storyteller and an actor, and she rarely gets enough sleep.
Rachael has received multiple Hawaii State Theatre Council Po'okela Awards for her acting, including Leading Female in a Play for the roles of Catherine in Proof and Morse in One Flea Spare, as well as Supporting Female in a Musical for the role of Celeste #1/Elaine in Sunday at the Park with George. She has been nominated twice for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan Awards, and received the Irene Ryan NAPAT Award for Classical Acting.
Rachael received her MFA in Western Acting at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she also taught Intro to Acting and Stage Combat. She is also a Certified Theatrical Combatant through Dueling Arts International.
